Research shows that it takes an average of five marketing impressions, regardless of the medium, before an individual begins to recognize a message or brand. And when you’re trying to make an impression on a potential customer, direct mail is a great way to do it.
Focal Point’s super jumbo postcards are huge – 5.25″ x 11.25″ to be exact. Their extra-large size delivers maximum impact, allowing you to get your point across in a big way. You can choose from two eye-catching designs: one to promote lawn renovations and another to promote your landscaping and/or hardscaping services. These days it seems like just about everybody has a digital camera, and they sure do make taking and sharing photos online easy. But what about taking digital photos that will be used in a printed piece such as a newsletter or brochure?
At Focal Point, we often receive photos from clients that look great on a computer screen, but when it comes time to print them, they just aren’t the right size or they aren’t saved in the correct format. Following the tips below can help you to take digital photos that will translate well into print.
SAVING
Photos should be saved in any of these formats:
• .jpg (joint photographic
experts group)
• .tif (tagged image file format)
• .eps (encapsulated
postscript)
• .psd (Photoshop
native file format)
• .pcd (Kodak photo-CD)
• RAW (in higher-end cameras)
RESOLUTION
To avoid having blurry photos or photos that are too small in a printed piece, it’s important to make sure the shots you take are of a high-enough resolution. Ideally, this is 300 ppi (pixels per inch) at the final size you want the photo to be used.
Most digital cameras are described in megapixels, or the file size they produce. As a rule, the more megapixels, the better-quality photos you’ll get. A 1 megapixel camera will take lower-quality photos than a 3 or 4 megapixel camera.
